I've been lucky enough to go some very interesting places, and a few times had a camera in tow.
Mexican Elections, 2006
An enjoyable trip to the South to watch the election of a replacement for Vincente Fox. I tagged along with a bunch of people getting their Masters in various fields from Illinois State University, and learned valuable lessons about Spanish, World Cup Soccer (Futbol?), and keeping the distance between the bed and toilet as short as possible. (Thanks for that last one, chocolate milkshake from that one place outside the Zocalo!)
Honduras 2005
Honduras has a set of ruins right inside their northern border, called Copan. It only took a 5 hour bus trip from Antigua to get their, and rooms were dirt-cheap. I went with Dawn, Eric and Erin. E & E live in Guatemala, and Dawn is from Texas. I taught them all to respect the ways of the ninja.
European Tour June 2007
We went to europe!
Guatemala 2004
There were about 14 people on this trip, only a few of whom I knew very well. We built part of an orphanage climbed volcanos, hung out, and the second week a friend and I wandered aimlessly around Belize. Good stuff, maynard.
Guatemala 2005
This was a shorter trip than in 2004, but felt pretty productive. We continued work on a multi-purpose building at the orphanage. We worked on the second floor walls, which meant a lot of buckets of mortar and cinder blocks to carry up one narrow stairwell. Everyone got along pretty well, and we avoided major injuries. I spent a few days afterwards getting to Honduras to see some ruins. Pics o' plenty ensued.
