I
t's not as if there aren't myriad other interesting things to blather on about, but I've become fairly bad at making the time to ramble about those things here.

Ah well. I posted a few photos of the construction work at the new office. We're getting pretty excited.
The first phase is getting new windows put in to replace the somewhat small ones the last owners had.
This isn't cheap and wasn't in "The Plan" originally, but my sense is that if we don't do it now, we probably never will.
Besides, with the economy booming, what better time to throw money into something so questionably necessary? The new windows will fill the openings from edge-to-edge of the brick, and we're even re-opening some areas that were bricked over. The goal of all this is to make the interior of a very old, very somber building feel pretty bright and enjoyable on the inside. I'm as big a fan as anyone of stubbed toes and cursing the dark, but during winter, I need as much light as I can get. Otherwise, I'm a total grump.
Also some of the shots show the concrete ceiling, which we sandblasted to remove a lot of charring and soot. Looks a lot newer up there now, and we don't plan to cover one bit of it. Outside, if you look on the ground you can see the asphalt we had poured to turn our swampy parking lot into something more presentable.
We meet with the architect tomorrow to hammer out details on the actual interior of the building which is where we really make good use of those awesome bailout opportunities.
