ive Sally credit. She manages to nod and make noises of affirmation most of the time when I talk about the 8,500 different ideas I have for the church rebuild. Whether it's landscaping, slides, or just me saying "I really need to get to work on this," she's usually ready to agree.
The problem is that it's mostly talk. I put off calling the landscapers, or I forget to call around and try to find carpenters, and worst of all, I come home from work and I just want to veg out most of the time, or sit on the computer and futz around with pointless diversions (writing blogs, for example). There's undoubtedly progress on the church since we got it, and some clear goals are taking shape, but nothing's going to get done if I don't work harder at it. The funny thing is I can work harder by being lazier - i.e. pick up the phone instead of the hammer, and eventually I can get someone out here to work on our ceiling or our yard while I'm at the office doing what I do best (or most profitably).
Letting go and letting someone else do the work is hard, but having Sally smile and nod while inwardly saying "yeah, right, whatever" is harder. Both of us need to see some noteworthy progress this summer, and that's only going to happen with assistance.
Anyone know a good carpenter in the area? Can cats learn to use nail guns? Will carpenters accepts cats as payment? How about cats that know how to use nail guns?
